Tractor Supply Co. plans to occupy the former Kmart building in Oak Harbor off Highway 20.
Documents filed with the city planning department show the rural lifestyle retailer plans to remodel and occupy the east side of the building and the outdoor garden area. Plans show 33,000 square feet divided into areas for retail, stock, feed and hay.
A planning department official confirmed no other companies have yet filed plans with the city to improve the rest of the building.
So far, work hasn’t begun on the building. Thursday afternoon the cavernous building was dark and empty.
Earlier this month the company put up two “COMING SOON” signs. Officials for the company refused to confirm when or where the store might be coming.
