The Coupeville Town Council approved a contract with Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve Trust Board during its Aug. 12 evening meeting.
The $9,000 contract will allow the Trust Board to provide technical support for the town’s design review process. The contract will be paid in $750 monthly installments.
Coupeville Mayor Nancy Conard said that Town Planner Larry Kwarsick has been meeting with Trust Board members since January. In addition to providing guidance for the town’s design review process, the Trust Board will also assist with the town’s review of its design guidelines.
The contract the town council approved helps finalize the agreement between the two entities.
“It’s been a great opportunity to strengthen our relationship,” Conard said.
Those words were echoed by council member Bob Clay.
“This is an excellent use of resources we have on both sides,” Clay said.
Conard said the contract is more than the historical architect, who was based in Tacoma, was paid, but the town is also getting a lot more work done because of the agreement.
