Tuttle wins district title

Oak Harbor senior John Tuttle won the 140-pound championship Class 4A District 1 Wrestling Tournament at Marysville Saturday afternoon, with a 12-8 decision over Kamiak’s Anthony Jacobson in the title bout. Team-wise, the Wildcats scored 167 points in the match to finish in seventh place, among the 14 schools entered in the tournament.

Team-wise, the Wildcats scored 167 points in the match to finish in seventh place, among the 14 schools entered in the tournament.

Lake Stevens was the winner recording 441 points, with Snohomish (324) second and Edmonds-Woodway (251.50) placing third.

In addition, six other Oak Harbor wrestlers qualified for the regional tournament scheduled for Feb. 13 and 14 at Snohomish High School.

In the 119-pound weight class, Royce Cardwell finished in fourth place and Connar Zimmerman was the bronze medal winner at 125-pounds with a third-place finish.

Colton Elliot was fourth in the 130-pound weight class and Jared Tyson placed fourth at 152 pounds.

Brian Howard finished sixth at 215 pounds and Brandon Stratton rounded out the Wildcat card placing seventh at 135 pounds.

The top seven wrestlers in each weight division advance to regional competition.
