The Island County Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants to complete a term on the Island County Planning Commission as Commissioner District 2 (which encompasses all of the greater Oak Harbor area). The term will run until Jan. 2, 2015. Members must reside in the district appointed to represent.
The Board of County Commissioners appoints commission members to four-year terms, which may be renewed by mutual agreement.
The Planning Commission consists of nine members, three from each County Commissioner District, to assure county-wide representation. The Planning Commission makes recommendations to the Board in matters concerning growth and development as authorized in the Planning Enabling Act.
The Planning Commission generally meets at 9 a.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month in the Courthouse Annex Hearing Room, Coupeville.
