There’s something to be said for a little healthy competition.
Entries are going up now for the annual Scarecrow Corridor and must be in place by Sunday, Oct. 5.
Winners will be announced Saturday, Oct. 25 just after the Halloween Torchlight Parade.
Winners this year will receive a trophy.
Maps will be available for anyone interested in touring the Scarecrow Corridor through the chamber of commerce.
Residents and guests can vote on their favorite scarecrow. Ballot boxes will be available at Whidbey Island Bank, Coupeville Library and chamber of commerce.
The Coupeville Historic Waterfront Association is also getting on the creative competition bandwagon with a carved pumpkin contest.
Pick out a pumpkin at Sherman Pioneer Farm to carve at home.
Bring the completed pumpkin to the visitors center on Thursday, Oct. 16 or Friday, Oct. 17 to enter.
Entries will be displayed along Front Street until Thursday, Oct. 31.
Winners will also be announced at the end of the Halloween Torchlight Parade.
