Waiting for old levies to expire

Let’s make a deal. Many islanders want to support the hospital in the new proposed levy. They think we need a big new wing so patients can have a private room. I disagree. It does not improve quality of care.

I believe we can all agree that the care at Whidbey General Hospital is acceptable, if not exceptional. Many islanders do not want their property taxes raised any higher for any reason. I happen to be one of those people.

I want to make a deal with both parties. I will gladly pay the additional $50 a year for the new wing of the hospital when the old hospital levies are paid off. We all currently pay two levies for WGH: One for the hospital and one for the EMS through the hospital. We also pay for three more levies for schools, parks and libraries. All five levies are in addition to our yearly property tax contributions.

Can anyone tell me how much we owe for the five current levies? When will it stop? Send a message to our community leaders to be frugal with our hard earned, limited supply, tax dollars. I think this is a fair and responsible solution for everyone. Please, vote no.
