The Whidbey Golf and Country Club is preparing for its biggest event of the year, the Men’s Invitational, May 27, 28 and 29.

The Invitational has been a Memorial Day weekend tradition for 45 years and will feature a field 144 of the area’s top golfers in four flights.

The 36-hole tournament takes place Saturday, May 28, and Sunday, May 29.

A practice round and a horse race are scheduled for Friday, May 27.

Eric McCardle (gross, 140) and Harold Olson (net, 134) won the 2010 tournament.
