What a fun year for sports

I want to thank the News-Times for its coverage of the local sports. I have been involved in the local youth sports for about 15 years now due to my son’s interest in the sports. I have had the privilege of meeting many special, wonderful young men and women from the community and enjoy following their activities through the sports pages. This particular group of young men are the last of those who either played with or wrestled with my son. I’ve watched them grow into wonderful people.

I want to thank KWDB for carrying the games on the radio. Perry Williams and Orson Christensen did a wonderful job covering the game. (The ESPN announcers could learn one thing from them: Talk about the game.)

I want to thank the sponsors of those programs for supporting the students of the high school.

I want to thank Wildcat TV for filming the games and letting us see how they played. Again, I appreciate the team of Shane Evans and Dale Leach. They talked about the game.

It was a tremendous, wonderful experience at the dome Saturday night. Thanks to the cheerleaders for their halftime performance. Let’s not forget that these cheerleaders were national champions last year. Their precision is incredible.

And thanks to the band members. I think you underestimate your part in these games.

Thanks to the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Oak Harbor for giving the community an outlet for showing their support and encouragement.

It’s been great fun.
