Whidbey General Hospital is redistricting the area it serves.

This redistricting is a required review after every census and will not affect the current sitting commissioners.

According to a presentation created by Trish Rose, the hospital’s public disclosures officer, the purpose of doing this is to make the population in each of the five districts balanced.

Redistricting it is done to ensure future candidates for the nonpartisan positions on the board of commissioners are living within the appropriate districts.

The presentation says the goal population for each district is 12,569 people.

The board will discuss the proposed redistricting plan at a meeting 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, in the conference rooms at Whidbey General Hospital.
