Blake Thompson, known to countless patients and staff members as “Dr. Stumblemore,” was honored Monday by the Whidbey General hospital board for his volunteer work as Dr. Stumblemore the clown. He began volunteering at Whidbey General 11 years ago this month. Thompson trained several years earlier at “Bumper T. Caring Clowns,” a nonprofit made up of clowns who volunteer in hospitals nationwide. After Thompson was certified as a caring clown, he changed his name to “Dr. Stumblemore” and approached Whidbey General about volunteering.
