It’ll be summer school with a lively twist when Molly Larson Cook and Skylark Writing Studio team with Whidbey Island Arts Council to present three writing workshops for adults at the Coupeville Library.

The Arts Council is sponsoring Cook, novelist, poet and seasoned creative writing instructor, in this project to benefit the council’s literary arts programs and scholarships.

Cook will present one-day workshops on three Saturdays for adult writers at all levels. The first class, “A Writer’s Tools: Words, Sentences, Paragraphs and Pages,” will be held June 25. The second, “Road Trips, Rendezvous and Route 66,” will be held July 23. And the last class, “Poetry Inside the Line (and Out!),” is scheduled for Aug. 20.

“The workshops will be lively and engaging, and we’ll have fun while doing serious work,” Cook said. “It’s summer school, after all, and summer is a time for fun. At the same time, the workshops are designed to explore some serious writing territory that will encourage beginners and move experienced writers along in their work.”

Cook is owner of Skylark Writing Studio which had a home at the Bayview Cash Store until Cook moved to Coupeville two years ago.
