Whidbey Island Bank adds new managers

Whidbey Island Bank has hired Mark W. Nelson as senior vice president and senior lending officer.

Nelson comes with extensive banking credentials, most recently with Evergreen Bank where he was executive vice president and chief credit officer, responsible for commercial, real estate and consumer loans.

With nearly 30 years of experience in financial services, Nelson has comprehensive knowledge of regional group management, credit administration, commercial and real estate lending, underwriting and international banking.

He also has a history of community involvement and leadership in professional affiliations.

Nelson is a graduate of Western Washington University and holds an MBA. He also attended Pacific Coast Banking School.

Also new to Whidbey Island Bank is Michael Heidt, who will be a commercial loan officer in Oak Harbor. He is a 18-year banking veteran, who was previously employed by Farm Credit Services of Northwest North Dakota as a senior lending specialist and alliance manager. He has a BS degree in animal science from North Dakota State University. The university named Heidt an Outstanding Young Alumnus in 1992.

Whidbey Island Bank was established in 1961 and has 14 branches in Island, Skagit and Whatcom counties.
