The Whidbey Sounders Toastmasters will celebrate Parliamentary Law Month with a special parliamentary-themed meeting.

Toastmaster and President of Hermetas, Aaron Taggert, will discuss the importance of parliamentary skills for contemporary professionals.

The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. April 12 at the VFW on Goldie Road in Oak Harbor. Admission is free and open to the public.

Taggert is an IT, parliamentary, legal and leadership consultant who specializes in assisting and training higher education student leaders.

At 13 years old, Taggert was deemed an unofficial member of city council, because he attended meetings and events more regularly than members themselves.

He has served on several nonprofit boards and is a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians (NAP), where he serves as a regional and state officer in Washington and California.

After Taggert’s presentation, a regular Toastmasters meeting will commence, including prepared speeches, impromptu speeches and evaluations.

Other scheduled speakers include LCDR James Jolly, USN Ret. and director of student development at Skagit Valley College; Tammi Moses, president of Homes Are For Living, LLC; and Vanya Brown, accounting supervisor and manager at Island County Public Health.
