Wildcat boys, girls both place 4th at Leavenworth | Cross country

A trip over Stevens Pass resulted in fourth-place finishes for both the Oak Harbor boys and girls cross country teams in the Leavenworth Invitational Saturday, Oct. 10.

Eastlake’s took first in the 23-team boys race with 90 points, followed by Shorecrest (107), Cascade of Leavenworth (125) and Oak Harbor (155).

Zillah was the girls champion out of 18 teams with 76 points, two ahead of Eastlake. Stanwood edged Oak Harbor for third 106-112.

The Wildcats placed second to Shorecrest (34-40) in the 15-team JV boys race. There was no junior varsity girls race.

The Leavenworth Invitational wrapped up the regular season for Oak Harbor.

The Western Conference championship meet is next at noon on Oct. 22 at Lakewood High School.

At Leavenworth, sophomores Jake Hucko (16:45.8) and Tyler Grehan (16:50.4) led the Oak Harbor varsity boys by placing 19th and 20th over the 2.8-mile course.

Freshman Alexis Smith paced the Wildcats girls by finishing seventh in 19:31.09; Emma Leach ran 19th in 20:26.5.

Oak Harbor’s Wyatt Pauley (17:32.8) won the JV race, and Benjamin Gasper (17:58.4) was third.
