The Oak Harbor and Everett baseball teams are tied for the final playoff spot with one game — today, May 1 — to go.

Both teams lost yesterday: Oak Harbor 8-5 at Glacier Peak and Everett 10-0 at Shorecrest.

The same schools play today in the final Wesco 3A regular season games with the Wildcats hosting the Grizzlies at 4 p.m. while Shorecrest (10-5, 13-6) travels to Everett (5-10, 5-14).

Six teams move on to the district tournament, and the Wildcats (5-10, 7-11) and Everett are tied for sixth. Oak Harbor holds the tie-breaker over the Seagulls because it defeated Everett in both face-to-face meetings this spring.

The sixth-place team travels to No. 1-seed Meadowdale (13-2, 13-5) at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 5, to begin the eight-team, double elimination district tournament.

In Oak Harbor’s loss to Glacier Peak Monday, the Grizzlies chased starter Grant Schroeder six hitters into the game. An error, walk and three hits helped GP score three runs in the opening frame.

Oak Harbor got all three back in the second with the help of four walks, an error and an RBI single by Cory Cameron.

After the Grizzlies went up 5-3, the Wildcats re-tied it in the fifth when Jack Richter singled and David Kusnick drilled a home run over the left-centerfield wall.

Glacier Peak, which finished with 11 hits, scored twice in the fifth and once in the sixth to secure the win. The Grizzlies ripped four doubles and a triple in the game; Oak Harbor had only three hits.

The win helped Glacier Peak (11-4, 13-6) move into a tie for second place with Mountlake Terrace.
