The Oak Harbor High School boys golf team once again finished fourth in a Wesco North meet, this time at Arlington’s Gleneagle Golf Course Monday, April 25.
The Wildcats have placed fourth in all four six-team conference meets this spring. The North schools next meet at Everett’s Legion Golf Course at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 25.
Oak Harbor (515) trailed Stanwood (418), Arlington (427) and Marysville-Pilchuck (461). Marysville Getchell and Everett did not qualify for a team score.
Wildcat freshman Haven Brown placed in a four-way tie for fourth with 81 strokes on the par-70 course. Stanwood’s Quinton Borseth finished first among the 30 golfers with a 69.
Oak Harbor’s Nick Whitley shot a 94, one better than Caleb Brookshier. Rheeno Kwak finished with a 121, and Ryan Evans added a 124.
“It went OK,” coach David Smith said. “It is a really tough course off the tee. It demands good shots and punishes you if you don’t.
“I thought the guys did well for a hard course. We need to work on some course management issues but we are progressing.”
