Wildcats rev up for 2008 season

Members of the football team aren’t the only ones at Oak Harbor High School getting fired up for the 2008 season.Under the direction of coach Pam Headridge and her very capable assistant Robin Goin, the cheerleaders are also getting all their moves down pat and ready for the opening home game of the year against Cascade Friday, Sept. 5.

Members of the football team aren’t the only ones at Oak Harbor High School getting fired up for the 2008 season.Under the direction of coach Pam Headridge and her very capable assistant Robin Goin, the cheerleaders are also getting all their moves down pat and ready for the opening home game of the year against Cascade Friday, Sept. 5.

Cascade was a member of the WesCo North but is now playing in the south division, so the game is a non-league matchup.

Oak Harbor has five home games this season at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.

The Wildcats take on Mount Vernon Sept. 26 and then play arch-rival Snohomish Oct. 3.

Arlington is the opponent for homecoming Oct. 17, and Oak Harbor closes the regular season Oct. 31 facing Marysville-Pilchuck.

Road games are against Monroe in the WesCo North League opener Sept. 12, followed by a non-league game against the Seagulls in Everett Sept. 19.

Oak Harbor travels to Stanwood Oct. 10 and then plays at Lake Stevens Oct. 24.

Kickoff time for all games is 7 p.m.

For a sneak peek at this year’s team under the direction of new head coach and former defensive coordinator Jay Turner, everyone is invited to Wildcat Memorial Stadium today to watch Oak Harbor’s annual purple and gold scrimmage.

Turner said the action is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m.
