The Oak Harbor High School boys golf team finished fourth when the six Wesco North schools met at the Whidbey Golf Club Tuesday, April 19.
Stanwood, led by medalist Quinton Borseth, who shot a one-over 73, took the meet with 408 strokes. Arlington shot 440, Marysville-Pilchuck 466 and Oak Harbor 511. Marysville Getchell and Everett did not qualify for a team score.
Oak Harbor’s Haven Brown tied for sixth individually with an 83. He was followed by teammates Nick Whitley (100), Rheeno Kwak (105), Caleb Brookshier (110), Mathew Boyd (113) and Joshua Margraf (117).
“It was another tough day out there,” coach David Smith said. “I am very proud of the guys, though. Even though they had a bad nine or a bad hole they kept at it and played better on many of the other holes. Overall, I see some progress in the kids and I think we will start seeing their scores improve.”
The Wesco North schools compete at Marysville’s Cedarcrest Golf Course at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 21.
