Wildcats win 4th straight | Volleyball

The Oak Harbor High School volleyball team continued its climb up the Western Conference standings with a 3-1 win at Mountlake Terrace Monday, Oct. 26.

The Oak Harbor High School volleyball team continued its climb up the Western Conference standings with a 3-1 win at Mountlake Terrace Monday, Oct. 26.

The win was the Wildcats’ fourth straight and lifted Oak Harbor (7-4, 7-6) into a fourth-place tie with Glacier Peak (7-4, 9-4) with one conference match remaining.

Oak Harbor finishes the regular season when first-place and undefeated Shorewood (11-0, 14-0) visits at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Shorewood sat atop the Wesco standings last year as well, and Oak Harbor beat the Thunderbirds in the league finale and the district tournament.

Regardless of the outcome of this year’s match with Shorewood, Oak Harbor will move on to the district tournament, which begins Saturday, Oct. 31. Who and where the Wildcats will play will not be known until Wednesday’s final league games are completed.

Oak Harbor topped Terrace 25-21, 21-25, 25-11, 25-21.

Janae Payne led the way with 33 assists, 2.5 blocks and nine digs. Hailee Blau had eight kills and three blocks, Claire Anderson added 15 kills and Priya Osborne recorded 14 digs.
