Powered by the offense of Hailey Hammer, Madeline Strasburg and Megan Oakes, the Coupeville High School volleyball team won 3-1 at Granite Falls Thursday, Oct. 24.
Coupeville took the match 25-23, 25-17, 20-25, 25-22.
Hammer drilled 11 kills and Strasburg added 10 as the Wolves avenged a 3-0 loss to the Tigers (2-11) earlier this month.
Oakes, returning to setter where she played last year, initiated the offense with 26 assists while completing 118 of 120 sets.
Coupeville coach Kirsty Croghan said, “Megan did a great job in the setter’s position and helped the team step up their game.”
The Wolves received help from throughout the lineup.
Breeanna Messner (10-for-10) and Kacie Kiel (16-for-16) each earned three aces while having perfect nights serving. Hammer was also 16-for-16 serving.
In serve receive, Messner was 18-for-22, Amanda Fabrizi 18-for-20 and Haley Sherman 13-for-16.
In defensive chances, Fabrizi was 35-for-42, Sherman 20-for-25 and Oakes 17-for-21.
Allie Hanigan recorded five blocks.
Croghan said, “Great win for the team. They are improving every match.”
Coupeville (2-11, 3-11) closes out the season with a tough match, hosting undefeated King’s (12-0) at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29.
