The Coupeville High School volleyball team began its season with a 3-0 nonleague loss at South Whidbey Tuesday, Sept. 9.
The Falcons won 25-8, 25-17, 25-10.
“This was a good learning experience for us,” said CHS coach Breanne Smedley, who is in her first year at the helm of the Wolves. “We gave away points with unforced errors and not being able to execute plays.”
Hailey Hammer led the Coupeville offense with five kills and Kacie Kiel added three.
Kiel topped the Wolves in digs with six; Valen Trujillo had five.
Tiffany Briscoe provided two service aces.
Coupeville plays its first home match at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, when Friday Harbor visits for a nonleague match. The Wolverines defeated Evergreen Lutheran 3-1 Tuesday.
