League-leading Klahowya blanked the Coupeville High School soccer team 5-0 Monday, May 4, at Mickey Clark Field.
“We came out flat in the first half and paid for it quickly,” Coupeville coach Kyle Nelson said. “The boys regrouped in the second half and played a bit better, only conceding the one goal after half time.”
The Wolves finish the regular season with a match at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, at Port Townsend.
Regardless of the outcome of the match, the Wolves have qualified for the playoffs. A win over the Redhawks would put the two schools in a tie for second place, and a coin flip would most likely break the tie, Nelson said.
The district tournament begins at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 9, with a loser-out round.
The second-place Olympic League team hosts the third-place Nisqually League team, while the third-place Olympic League team travels to the second-place Nisqually League school.
