Coupeville traveled to Friday Harbor for a four-school tournament on Saturday, including teams from Blaine and Stanwood (JV).

Coupeville’s Nathaniel Mouw won the singles tournament, defeating Stanwood’s player 8-1; Friday Harbor’s Dylan Gerhardstein 6-1,6-1; and in the final, Blaine’s C.J. Stauffer 6-3, 4-6, (7-2). Wolf Scott Harbour finished 5th barely missing 3rd place in a 3rd set tie-breaker to Friday Harbor’s number one, Gerhardstein.

Coupeville’s first doubles team of Eric Taylor and Andrew Mouw cruised easily to the final, beating Friday Harbor’s number two Knight/Metzger-Bell 8-1 in the first round and Blaine’s No. 2 Dhanani/Farmer 6-3,6-1 in the semis.

In the final, the Wolves’ undefeated duo faced a Blaine No. 1, made up of their No. 2 and No. 3 players Grant Sanders and Peter Moskovitz. The Blaine pair won the first set 6-4, but the Coupeville pair came back to take the second 7-5 in a very close and entertaining match.

In the third set tie-break Blaine jumped out to a 5-1 lead and though Coupeville came back to 4-5, the Borderites closed out the tie and the match 7-5 to hand the Wolf team their first loss of the season.

Overall the Blaine team won the tournament with 34 points, taking second and fourth in singles and 1st and 3rd in doubles. Coupeville finished a close 2nd with 32 points, taking 1st and 5th in singles and second and 4th in doubles.

Friday Harbor finished with 14 points, taking 3rd in singles and 5th in doubles. The Stanwood JV finished last with 10 points for a 6th in singles and a 6th in doubles.
