Madison Tisa-McPhee recorded the fastest qualifying time in the 100-meter hurdles to lead the efforts of the Coupeville High School track team at the district preliminaries Wednesday, May 8, at Lynden Christian High School.

Finals were held in four events, the girls 3,200 and triple jump and the boys 1,600 and long jump.

Coupeville’s Erin Rosenkranz placed 11th in the 3,200 in 13:27.3. The Wolves had no entries in the other finals.

Preliminaries were held in only the individual running events.

The district finals are at 5 p.m. Friday, May 10, at Lynden Christian.

Tisa-McPhee topped the field in the 100 hurdles in 16.49 and was second in the 300 hurdles in 49.23.

Makana Stone (26.91) and Sylvia Hurlburt (27.62) finished 2-5 in the girls 200.

Marisa Etzell was 10th in the 100 (13.8) and Courtney Allard 15th in the 100 hurdles (20.88).

The top eight qualify for the finals, and it was tough day for the Coupeville boys who collected three ninths.

Josiah Campbell was ninth in the 200 (24.51), Sam Landau in the 400 (56.47) and Matthew Hampton in the 800 (2:11.12).

Campbell, however, did pick up third in the 100 (11.65) and Brandon Kelley was fourth in the 300 hurdles (44.57) to qualify for Friday’s finals.

Lathom Kelley was 13th in the 200 (25.35), and Jared Helmstadter placed 14th in the 200 (25.48) and 15th in the 100 (12.41).
