The Coupeville High School tennis team continued its dominance of the Olympic League by taking first in both singles and doubles at the conference 1A tournament Tuesday, May 10, at Chimacum.
The Wolves, who just finished their second consecutive unbeaten league season, were led by junior Valen Trujillo, who captured the singles crown after finishing second to teammate Jacki Ginnings last year, and sophomores Payton Aparicio and Sage Renninger, who took the doubles title; they were third in 2015.
The top four finishers in singles and doubles qualified for the district tournament, and the Wolves claimed two other district berths.
Senior singles player Sydney Autio and the senior doubles team of Jazmine Franklin and McKenzie Bailey each placed fourth.
Coupeville’s two other entries in the league tournament (Bree Daigneault and Maggie Crimmins/Kameryn St. Onge) dropped first round matches and were eliminated.
