The Coupeville High School baseball and soccer teams prepped for the upcoming season by taking part in jamborees this weekend.
The baseball team competed in Oak Harbor along with South Whidbey Saturday, March 12.
“It went well,” first-year coach Marc Aparicio said. “(I’m) really proud of the kids’ performance.
“We worked in six different pitchers and saw kids in different positions. It was a great opportunity to practice a real game scenario.”
Aparicio added that he is confident his club will be ready when it opens the regular season at 4 p.m. Monday, March 14, with Sultan. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Sultan but has been moved to Coupeville.
Coupeville hosted the soccer jamboree Friday, March 11, and lost its two matches 2-0.
“We had some good moments, and we have some areas that we need to work on,” coach Kyle Nelson said.
The Wolves go to Granite Falls for the 6 p.m. season opener Tuesday, March 15.
Nelson said that match “should help clarify our strengths and weaknesses.”
