Darlene Wyvel, 78, passed away May 23, 2016.
She was born Sept. 5, 1937, in Moosejaw, SK, Canada.
The Wyvels have resided in Seattle since 1959. Darlene moved from Moosejaw in 1955 to live with her aunt in Seattle and attend Edison Tech College. She had a comp degree and worked for Standard Oil.
Don and Darlene married in 1959 at the University Congregational Church; a reception was held at the Edmund Meany Hotel. Don worked at G.E., and in 1960 joined the Seattle Fire Department. Darlene became a U.S. Citizen in 1964. The family moved to Shoreline and raised three children. Darlene obtained a real estate license in the ’70s and later became an associate broker.
Don retired from the Seattle Fire Department in 1987. They then moved to Oak Harbor. They spent eight years traveling in their RV and eventually bought a condo in Las Vegas in 2001, where they enjoyed being tour guides to all the visiting friends and family.
In 2014, they came back to reside in Oak Harbor. In all their years traveling and residing in Las Vegas, they spent a lot of time staying with their son and daughter who reside in Oak Harbor. Don’s parents also resided in Oak Harbor.
Darlene was diagnosed in 2001 with a rare kidney disease. She fought very hard. She was put on dialysis in 2012. She enjoyed the people at Puget Sound Dialysis and staff very much. They were so very good to her.
Darlene is survived by her loving husband Don; son Doug and son-in-law Ger; daughters Deb and Diane; grandsons Seth, Anthony and Brandon; granddaughter Carly; and her brother Bill Hans and family.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. There were dear friends from her King George (cuties) and loving cousins that she so enjoyed at all their gatherings. She will also be missed by her many friends from the Seattle Fire Department and their families, and her real estate friends and the community of Shoreline.
Darlene’s wishes were for no service. We appreciate you all joining in our grief at this time. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Seattle FD Medic One or our local charity she was involved with: Equestrian Crossings.
Thank you, Darlene’s loving family.
