Agnes Skidmore passed away Friday, May 16, 2014 at the ripe old age of 89. She was born Agnes Workman in Eureka, Mont., on Dec. 20, 1924.
She married Bill Armstrong in 1941. They produced three girls, Beverly Lowder (Jesse), Nancy Gerver (Grant) and Alice Martin (Steve).
She later married Bob Largent and they had one son, Lee Largent.
Agnes has eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Agnes worked for many years as a licensed practical nurse, caring compassionately for patients in Mount Vernon, Sedro Woolley, Oak Harbor and Coupeville.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Skidmore, a Pearl Harbor survivor, in 2006.
They traveled extensively and had a wonderfully happy marriage which they also shared with their beloved Duke, the Pomeranian.
She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Ella Hoffman and Marie Erickson.
Agnes dearly loved her Southern Baptist Church family and thoroughly enjoyed teaching senior Sunday school classes and attending women’s Bible study and theology classes.
Additionally, she took missions classes, and even took on the challenges of door-to-door Evangelism. Agnes recognized that she was a sinner, and believed in the forgiveness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in faith.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. today, Saturday, May 24 at Oak Harbor Southern Baptist Church, 50 S.W. 6th Ave., Oak Harbor, WA.
