Alan Keith Sullivan

Alan Keith Sullivan, 31, died at his home in Seattle Feb. 1, 2005, from a sudden illness. He had been a resident of Seattle for the past seven years. Alan was born in Nashville, Tenn., on Dec. 1, 1973, to Richard and Joanne (Jenkins) Sullivan.

Alan grew up in Franklin, Tenn. He attended Franklin High School where he excelled in honors English and was involved in the drama program. He also worked after school and weekends in the video department at the Kroger grocery store. He graduated from Franklin High School with the Class of 1992. Following high school, Alan attended college in Knoxville, Tenn., where he also worked delivering pizzas. He was a member of the Grassland Heights Baptist Church in Franklin, Tenn.

In the summer of 1997, Alan moved to Seattle. He loved animals and was able to work for Petco Stores for a time. His sister Karen also stayed with him, while she attended college. He worked for a time for Best Buy and then went to work for Home Depot.

Alan returned to college in the fall of 2002, attending Seattle Central Community College. He was able to pursue his long-time passion for film and directing by taking their intensive program in film. He graduated in 2004 with his associate’s of applied science in film production. Alan was currently working at Home Depot as a Pro Accounts Sales Associate.

Alan was an avid reader and had acquired quite a collection of books. He loved films, both new and old, and was working on editing a film for a friend. He enjoyed role-playing games and had an amazing imagination. Alan was intelligent, funny, loving and loved to hang out with his friends and go to the movies.

Alan is survived by his parents, Joanne and Arnie Deckwa of Oak Harbor and Richard Sullivan and Linda Bernstorf of Nashville, Tenn.; his grandparents Wallace and Viola Sullivan and Milbry B. Jenkins, all of Dickson, Tenn.; two sisters, Karen Griffith and husband Craig of Visalia, Calif., and Laurie Ann Deckwa of Ballard; four brothers, Scott Deckwa and wife Lisa of Coupeville, and Shawn Deckwa of Oak Harbor, Matt Renegar of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and David Renegar and wife Alicia also of Murfreesboro.

Graveside funeral services for Alan Sullivan will be held at Maple Leaf Cemetery Thursday, Feb. 10, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Grafton Robinson of Oak Harbor Southern Baptist Church officiating. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
