Albert “Al” A. Simpson, 53, of Oak Harbor and formerly of Bellingham, passed away, Aug. 31, 2002, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham. He was born May 6, 1949, in Seattle to Albert and Harriette (La Fleur) Simpson. Mr. Simpson married Connie Shore in 1968, in Port Angeles where they both grew up. Al was a heavy equipment mechanic. He was currently living in Oak Harbor where he worked as a mechanic for Island County. Prior to that he had worked for the Haskell Corporation in Bellingham for 15 years. Al loved boating, camping in his motor home and being with his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife Connie; two daughters, Lisa and husband Mike Helmick and Vanessa Simpson; brothers, David and Paul Dale and Steve Simpson; sister, Linda Sims, stepfather Howard Dale and grandchildren; Chris, Kaylee and Chelsea Helmick. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son David “Shaun” Simpson.
