Albert Kittleson went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 28, 2006. He was born Feb. 27, 1932 in Everett where he was raised and attended Everett High School.
Albert enlisted in the U.S. Army in June 1952 and was sent to Korea in May 1953, where he became a sergeant in the Third Infantry Division. While in Korea he was awarded a Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the United Nations Campaign Ribbon, and Bronze Star with a “V” for heroic achievement and an Oak Leaf signifying a second Bronze Star.
When Al returned to his home in Everett he first became a commercial real estate salesman at D. A. Duryee and later went on to work for Ray Moore Construction. After a short time commercial fishing in Alaska he once again returned to Everett and became a general building contractor and land developer.
In 1983 Al moved to Clinton on Whidbey Island where he continued to build and develop land. His last project before retiring was developing the plat of The Cedars in Langley.
He loved the outdoors. His passions were hunting, fishing, crabbing and shrimping. He found great pleasure in sharing whatever he caught, especially shrimp, with friends and family.
Al was a member of the South Whidbey American Legion, a proprietary member of the Holmes Harbor Rod and Gun Club, and attended South Whidbey Assembly of God Church in Langley.
Al is survived by his wife Penny, stepson Shawn Eveland, grandsons Anthony and Brandon Eveland, sister Mary Erickson, along with many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Al will be held Sunday, Jan. 7 at 1:30 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Langley. Pastor Matt Chambers will officiate.
