Angela Machado Allen

Angela Allen, 93, died May 21, 2008, at her home with her family by her side. She was born May 28, 1915 in Hanford, Calif., to Manuel and Olivia Machado. Her father was a dairy farmer.

Angela married James Allen in 1947 and together they followed Jim’s work from California to Washington to Illinois to New York and more. They raised two wonderful girls in the process and in 1982, after Jim retired, decided to move to Whidbey Island. They have lived in the Coupeville area for the past 26 years.

Angela is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jim, along with her daughters June Allen of Coupeville and Renee with husband Lane of Preston, Wash. Also sisters Florence Espinola of Madera, Calif., Jolene Matthews of Paradise, Calif., and brother Manuel Machado with wife Trudy of Tulare, Calif.

Angela was an accomplished knitter, whose latest project was knitting caps for Native American children.

A graveside service for Angela will be held at Sunnyside Cemetery in Coupeville on Wednesday, June 4, at 2 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
