Ann L. McClure, 66, eight-year resident of Coupeville, died at her home on May 21, 2005, following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. McClure was born in Spokane on Jan. 5, 1939, to Paul and Ruth Lloyd. She was raised in Spokane, where she graduated from North Central High School. She was married to Dennis V. Collins on Sept. 4, 1957. They were married in New York City on a TV show called Bride and Groom. They lived in Spokane, and the New York and Chicago areas, during which time Dennis traveled with the Chad Mitchell Trio. Dennis preceded her in death on March 22 1978.
Ann became an administrative assistant to the chairman of ISC, a computer company headquartered in Spokane. It was there that she met John W. McClure, and they were married on June 25, 1983. They moved to the Seattle area, and then to Coupeville in 1997. Ann was an active member of the Coupeville Garden Club, in which she served as vice-president for one year and president for two years. She was also a member of the Fishin’ Club of Bayview. Besides gardening and fishing, she also enjoyed auto racing, camping, boating, canning, sewing, painting, writing and baking. She won first place in the 2004 Island County Fair in the baked goods category. She could read music and was excellent at playing the piano.
Ann is survived by her husband John, at home; one son, Brian Collins of Canoga Park, Calif.; two brothers, Bob Lloyd and wife Eleanora of Foothill Ranch, Calif., and Vince Lloyd of Las Vegas; one sister, Patricia Cox and husband Richard of Nine Mile Falls, Wash.; also, several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Celebration of Ann’s Life will be held at Cooks Corner Park, corner of 9th and Main, Coupeville, on Saturday, June 18 at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Coupeville Garden Club Scholarship Fund, in Memory of Ann McClure, P.O.
