Arne Sigurd Olsen was born in Burien, WA to Roberta Carroll and Ron “Sonny” Olsen. He was raised on Whidbey Island by his Aunt Esther, who he called “Mom.” He attended Langley High School and enjoyed getting into trouble with Tom Pincus, Eric Schille, and his brother Morley Curtis.
As a young man, Arne lived in Shoreline, Washington, where his children were born. He loved playing and watching sports and passed that passion on to his daughter Amber, teaching her how to play basketball, football, and baseball. He worked for many years at Seattle University and later in life, he took up woodcarving while living on South Whidbey Island.
Early the morning of January 2, 2023, Arne died at Providence Hospital – Everett. He was surrounded by the people he loved, and the people who loved him. His big booming laugh would light up any room and lives on in the memories of those dear to him. He will be missed.
