Barbara Jean Chaloux, 66, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Dec. 27, 2008. She was born in Burlington, Vt. on June 3, 1942, daughter of Joseph Reska Sr. and Lena (Bedard) Reska.
Barbara graduated from Burlington High School and in 1962 she married Robert W. Chaloux. For many years they traveled extensively as Robert was in the Navy. Barbara worked at numerous jobs over the years. She had worked on a lobster boat; she was licensed as a flagger in traffic control and she had worked as a cashier on the Navy base. Robert retired as a Master Chief from the Navy and the couple lived in Oak Harbor. Robert died on Oct. 16, 1997 and in 2002 Barbara moved back to Vermont, making her home in Milton. All her life Barbara loved sports; baseball, darts and bowling were among her favorites. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Michelle Hunt of Oak Harbor; two grandchildren, Steven and Makayla; her sisters and brother and their spouses, Shirley and Thomas Duval Sr. of Burlington, Vt., Joseph Reska Jr. and Sherry Lynn Reska of Lawton, Okla., Beverly Duval of Burlington, Vt., Jackie and Fred Brown of Milton, Vt.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her sister, Sophie King; by her father Joseph Reska Sr.; and by her stepfather and her mother, Howard and Lena Zeno.
