Barry Daniel “Danny” D’Annunzio

Barry Daniel “Danny” D’Annunzio died suddenly at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Seattle, on March 2, 2007, at the age of 44. He was born May 23, 1962, in Hahaira, Georgia to Russell Barry and Bonnie Jean (Corbitt) Almand.

Shortly after he began school, Danny moved with his family to Tennessee. They moved on to Oak Harbor where Danny completed most of his education. He graduated from Oak Harbor High School and then began a career as a chef, working at several restaurants in Oak Harbor, Mount Vernon and Bellingham.

In January of 1982, Danny enlisted in the U. S. Air Force as a Military Police officer. He served six years before he was medically discharged as a sergeant. Danny lived in North Dakota for two years, before moving to Cordele, Georgia with his family. Eighteen months later Danny moved to Langley, Wash., and finally to Burlington, where he and his mother have lived for the past 12 years.

Danny loved to go camping with his mom in their motor home. Rasar State Park in Skagit County was his favorite campground.

His mother Bonnie Jean D’Annunzio, of Burlington, his stepfather, Thomas “Dan” D’Annunzio of Van Horn, Texas, survive Danny. Two brothers, Craig Lowry of Oak Harbor and Michael Marshall of Burlington, one uncle, Don Corbitt of Burlington and two aunts, Ruby Timmons and husband Miles and Nancy Johnson and husband Si, all of Oak Harbor, also survive.

Memorial services for Danny D’Annunzio were held at Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor on March 9 with CDR. Fred Renfroe, CHC, USN (Ret.) officiating. Cremation was held with private family inurnment. Arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
