Becky Sue Steele, 50, of Oak Harbor, died at Whidbey General Hospital on Sept. 13, 2005, following a long and brave battle with cancer, surrounded by friends and loved ones.

Becky was born in Rapid City, S.D., on Sept. 2, 1955, to Ronald Kallsen and Betty (Hansen) Kallsen. She was raised in Pierre, S.D., where she graduated from high school. On July 5, 1990, she married Jeffrey A. Steele in Pierre. Becky enjoyed watching NASCAR races, target shooting and loved animals.

She is survived by her husband Jeff; stepdaughter Cassi Steele of Snohomish; stepson Sam Steele of Spanaway; also, numerous relatives in Sioux City, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Sherry Kallsen and brother Richard Alan Kallsen.

A Memorial Service will be Monday, Sept. 19 at 3 p.m., at Oak Harbor Church of the Nazarene, Dr. Benjamin Norris officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Steele, Tony Steele, Greg Steele, Mike Steele, Lloyd Kannegieter and Cliff Schweigert. Arrangements are under the direction of Burley Funeral chapel, Oak Harbor.
