Longtime Oak Harbor resident Betty Ann Everett, 84, passed away in her winter residence in Gilbert, Ariz., on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012.
Born in Bellingham, Wash. on July 8, 1927 to Engvald and Ruby Lundgaard, Betty Ann graduated from LaConner High School in 1945 and went on to become a dental assistant in Seattle. She married the “love of her life”, Harold “Deb” Everett on July 18, 1948. They settled in Oak Harbor where Deb joined his father and brother working for their family business, Everett Brothers Construction. Betty was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Sue and Nancy. Over the years she was active in Girl Scouts, P.T.A., Oak Harbor Lutheran Church, Whidbey General Hospital Guild, Whidbey Golf and Country Club, Oak Harbor Senior Center and her ladies Oak Harbor pinnacle group. Betty enjoyed traveling, shopping and lunch with her girlfriends and most of all spending time with her family. “Grammy” had an unconditional love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the light of her life.
Betty Ann is survived by her daughters Sue Winn of LaConner, Nancy Hunter and husband Frank of Gilbert, Ariz.; four granddaughters, Jennifer (Winn) Faley and husband Tom of Bothell, Wash., Jami (Hunter) Lindberg and husband Michael of Chandler, Ariz., Stacy (Winn) Brown and husband Ja’Wanne of Auburn, Wash. and Brean (Hunter) Speck and husband Kyle of Spanaway, Wash. and six great-grandchildren, Coleman, Caden, Hanna, Sofia, Zachary and Cooper.
A memorial service will be held at Oak Harbor Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012.
