Betty Gertrude Cooper, 72, a 44-year resident of Oak Harbor, died quietly in an Atlanta, Ga., hospital on Aug. 2, 2009. Betty was born in Atlanta on Oct. 16, 1936 to James and Mildred Brookshire. She was preceded by her husband of 50 years, Charles Cooper, in January 2005. She is survived by her son William and his wife Shannon.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests flowering plants for a memorial garden at Betty’s home. A Graveside Service was held Aug. 7 at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
