Beverly Jeanette Lane, 81, died at San Juan Nursing Home, Anacortes, on Jan. 22, 2007, as a result of injuries sustained in a fall at her home in August of 2006. She was born May 9, 1925, in Winona, Minn., to William F. and Mary (Ceminski) Beck.
Beverly was married to Glenn H. Lane on July 1, 1942, in Alameda, Calif. She followed Glenn’s 30-year Navy career, moving to Oak Harbor in 1955. They were transferred in 1957, but returned in 1961, making Oak Harbor their permanent home.
Beverly and Glenn are longtime members of the First Baptist Church of Oak Harbor. Beverly was also a member of the Fleet Reserve Association Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed helping people. She loved to sing and yodel and sang on the radio with her sister Helen when they were in their teens. She played the guitar, piano, organ and auto harp and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed ceramics, crocheting and sewing.
Beverly is survived by her husband Glenn Lane at the family home in Oak Harbor; by two sons, Thomas Lane and wife Bobbie of Anacortes and Michael Lane of Deer Park, Wash.; and by four daughters, Diane Vranes and husband Mark of San Bruno, Calif., Christine Jarvis of Kaysville, Utah, Joanne Ewing and husband Patrick of Everson, Wash., and Patricia Anderson and husband Garth of La Conner; and one brother, Donald Beck of Spanaway. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.
Memorial services for Beverly Lane will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27 at the Church on the Rock (formerly the Oak Harbor First Baptist Church) with Rev. Clint Webb officiating. Cremation was held with private family inurnment to follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a special account set up at Whidbey Island Bank under the name of Glenn Lane to cover healthcare costs for Christine Jarvis, Beverly and Glenn’s daughter. Arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
