“It was my wish to live for one more Spring to enjoy our garden filled with tulips. Rhodies, azaleas and other blooms. To find a home for our precious Blue, to have someone take over the two history genealogy projects and to bring it to completion, to find someone to take on my antique Valentine collection and help family sell and dispose of them. Serendipity magic took over in the form of lovely friends, acquaintances, and even strangers. All three goals were achieved. The largest support, every day, long days, came from my family, my husband, Dick and sister, Diane have done yeoman duty. My caregivers have been heavenly and beyond supportive. No specific names noted here- but each and every one of you know who I am referring to. My eternal love and thanks to each of you.”

Billie C. Barb -Harrison died at home on May 5, 2022 surrounded by immediate family and caregivers. Billie was born in Alexandria, Virginia to William and Rosa Barb, the fifth daughter in a family of six girls. She grew up in northern Virginia, attended George Washington University in Washington DC, and went on to begin her career in government which lasted over thirty years. She worked for multiple agencies during that time, moved to the west coast where she met her loving husband, Richard Harrison. She was working for the Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration at Sand Point Way in Seattle, WA prior to retiring in 1997. Her busy career allowed her to work for their budget office managing the Super Fund accounts on several very well-known oil spills – one of which was the infamous Exxon-Valdez spill in Alaska.

She had many diverse hobbies; became a master gardener after which she planned/designed the yard/gardens at their home on Whidbey Island; received certification from University of Washington as a genealogist. She was an amazing cook, and collector of vintage Valentines which she shared over the years by displaying them at local libraries. Billie is survived by her loving husband, Richard C. Harrison of Freeland, WA; a sister, Diane B. Ahuna also of Whidbey; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews on the east coast. She was loved and will be greatly missed by all.

There will be a private celebration of her life at an undetermined time in the future.
