Carl Henry Ronhaar, 88, died on Feb. 19, 2013 at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham, Wash.
Carl was born Jan. 16, 1925 to John and Elizabeth (Abrahamse) Ronhaar in Oak Harbor, and was the third of six children. He lived in Oak Harbor until graduation from high school in 1943.
Upon graduation he received his draft notice and in December left for the Navy.
On Sept. 20, 1946, he married Bea (Brune), his loving wife of 66 years.
He is survived by his wife, Bea, and four children: Ginger (David) Walworth, of Kelso; Kathy (Rob) Barnett, of Seattle; Bill (Sallie) Ronhaar, of Mount Vernon; and Brenda (Jerry) Roosma of Lynden. He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, sisters Margaret Jedele and Doris Nyhof, and his brother, Jim Ronhaar. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dan and Bob Ronhaar.
A celebration of Carl’s life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at First Reformed Church, 610 Grover Street in Lynden. Memorials may be made to First Reformed Church in Lynden, or to the Sumas American Legion #212 at 134 Harrison Street, Sumas WA 98295.
