Carole Colbert Gray

Carole was born on Oct. 30, 1941 in the Bronx, N.Y. to Joseph and Marie Constantino, the youngest of five children.

She grew up in the Bronx and married Gary James Colbert on July 27, 1963. Gary and Carole settled in Kings Park, N.Y. on Long Island. Son Glenn joined the family in 1970.

Gary sadly passed in 1980, prompting Carole to move first to San Diego, Calif., then to Oak Harbor in 1983. Carole was active in the Oak Harbor community as a business owner for a number of years in the 80s. Carole was also a long-standing member of the Oak Harbor Yacht Club. In 1998, Carole met another member, Don Gray, and they began dating, marrying in 2001.

Don and Carole left Oak Harbor in 2006 and relocated to Northern California, where Don owned a home. Don and Carole spent the last years of her life in a very peaceful environment.

Carole died of emphysema on July 26, 2015 at Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento, Calif.

Carole is survived by her husband, Don of Auburn, Calif.; son, Glenn of Whidbey Island; stepson, Eric Gray of Auburn, Calif.; step-daughter, Jennifer Weber (Steve) of Portland, Ore. She is also survived by sisters, Joan Minckler (Sherwood) and Patricia Daugherty, both of Oak Harbor, and brother, Robert Constantino (Lucy Kuras) of Islip, N.Y. and sister-in-law Patricia Freitas of Oak Harbor.

Carole was predeceased by her parents as well as her sister, Marilyn Rogers.

A funeral mass will be held for her at 10 a.m., Aug. 27, at St. Augustine’s Catholic church in Oak Harbor. Following at 1 p.m., a memorial will be held in her honor at Whidbey Golf and Country Club, 2430 SW Fairway Lane, Oak Harbor. Family and friends are invited to attend both.

Carole’s final resting place will be in the Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd, Calverton, N.Y. 11933, where she will be placed with her first husband, Gary.
