Charles Hart

Charles Corbin Hart, 83, died peacefully at home Dec. 30, 2004, after a nearly four-year battle with cancer. He was born in Lubbock, Texas, but his family moved to California when he was two years old. He met and later married Mary Lou Conner in Honolulu, Hiwaii, though the had both grown up and attended schools in Glendale, Calif.

Chuck’s career included banking, 11 years in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War, business administration at Fremont Presbyterian Church in Sacramento, Calif., and at Forest Home Christian Conference Center in Southern California. He then went into construction and was a general contractor for many years before retiring and moving to Oak Harbor in 1986. He enjoyed traveling, crabbing and clamming around the island and was an active member of Whidbey Presbyterian Church.

Chuck was preceded in death by his son Brian and is survived by Mary Lou, his wife of 60 years; daughter Debbie (Don) Peterson; their two children, Emily and Cory; granddaughters Mica (Scott) Heillman and Courtney (Travis) Powell.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m., at Whidbey Presbyterian Church. Donations can be made to the Charles Hart Memorial Fund at Whidbey Presbyterian Church, or Home Health Care and Hospice of Whidbey General Hospital.
