Bob Napier passed away Nov. 20, 2005 at his home in Oak Harbor. He was born in Cordell, Okla., Dec. 10, 1939. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1958 and Married Nancy Lee Hurd on Feb. 11, 1961.
Bob is survived by his wife Nancy L. Napier of Oak Harbor and the following:
Daughter: Krista Kae Menely of Carlsbad, Calif.
Daughter: Glenda Rae Smith of Pierce, Idaho.
Son: Jeffrey Scott Napier of San Diego.
Granddaughters: Jessica L Carnes of Alpine, Calif., Aspen Napier of Rio Rancho, N.M.; and Madison J. Menely of Carlsbad.
Grandsons: Christopher C. Carnes of Alpine, Jeffrey T. Napier of Rio Rancho, and Thomas C. Napier of San Diego.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Oliver Napier and his step-father James Holt. He also leaves behind the following loved ones: Mother Imogene Crowell of Burlington, sisters Charlene Stewart with husband David of Mount Vernon and Karen Buckner with husband Jamie of Arlington; also brother Dean M. Holt of Mount Vernon and brother-in-law Harry B. Hurd of Deming, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was honorably discharged on an L5 status from the US Navy after serving 21 years aboard a variety of naval ships as an electrician’s mate 1st class: USS Nanigo (YTB), USS Hancock (CVA-19), USS Alamo (LDS-33), USS San Diego AF-6), Sadek South Vietnam (River Boats) and was stationed at both Mare Island Naval Base and NAS Whidbey.
After retiring from the service Bob worked for a variety of marine design firms in the San Diego area before coming back to the Northwest. His hobbies were fishing and golf when he was able, and keeping in touch with those he loved.
At his request no funeral services will be held. He wanted people to “Remember him in their hearts.” Cremation was entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel of Oak Harbor.
