Christine Stocker of Oak Harbor passed away Oct. 28, 2011, at Providence Mount St. Vincent in Seattle where she had been a resident for the past five years.

She was born Dec. 7, 1927, in Whiting, Ind., to Frank and Mary Rose Yursi. Chris was known for her boundless energy, her love for her children and grandchildren and her deep love for her Lord and the church.

Chris graduated from Whiting High School in 1945. She joined the WAVES, women in the Navy, where she met her future husband Edward Stocker while both were stationed in Norfolk, Va. They were married in 1956 in Whiting, Ind. In 1961, Ed was transferred to Whidbey Island Naval Air Station. Chris raised her eight beloved children in Oak Harbor.

Chris is preceded in death by her husband Ed and her son Michael.

She is survived by sisters Donna Janesko and Virginia Balog. Surviving children are Mark, Frank, Mary and Bill Stocker plus Cecilia Monda, Susan DeFant and Valerie Haldeman. She also leaves behind 10 cherished grandchildren.
