Connie M. Green, 80, of Oak Harbor, longtime former Vancouver, Wash., resident, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 11, 2005, following a lengthy illness.
Connie was born in Omaha, Neb., on June 9, 1925, to Michael D. Morrissey and Gertrude (O’Shea) Morrissey. She was raised in Omaha, but moved with her family to Tillamook, Ore., after her junior year of high school. On Oct. 29, 1949, Connie married James S. Green in Fairbanks, Alaska. The couple traveled to numerous construction sites around the world, including Fairbanks and Kodiak; Grand Coulee, Wash.; Kwajalein, Okinawa, West Pakistan, Hawaii, Indonesia, Colombia, Philadelphia, New York and Cairo, Egypt. They retired to Vancouver, Wash., in 1994. After several years, Connie moved to Seattle, and then to Oak Harbor in May 2005 to be near her daughter.
Connie was a member of Royal Oaks Country Club in Vancouver and St. James Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing bridge and tennis.
Connie is survived by her daughter, Nita Sackett and husband Larry of Oak Harbor; two sons, Jim Green and wife Carol of Salem, Ore., and Mike Green of Puyallup; six grandchildren, Paul, Robin, Jim, Chris, Tim and Jack: eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Trudi Scamperino of Omaha, Neb. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996 and her brother Daniel in 2003.
A Memorial Mass was held Sept. 16 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Oak Harbor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Skagit Hospice, P.O. Box 1376, Mt.
