Curtis Leroy Weyer, 86, longtime Oak Harbor resident, died in his home July 25, 2011. Curtis was born in Seattle to Marie Bassett Weyer. He attended Seattle public schools and prior to graduating from Lincoln High School he joined the Navy and served during World War II.
After the war he met and married Barbara Jean Richards and settled in Magnolia. Curtis joined the Seattle Fire Department and rose to the rank of captain, retiring in 1976. After retiring he and Barbara moved to Mariner’s Cove, Oak Harbor, where they enjoyed life on Puget Sound. Curtis was an avid fisherman and supplied many family members and friends with salmon and crab.
Curtis was preceded in death by his wife Barbara in 2009. He is survived by his children, Lawrence Weyer, Barbara Twaddell and Jan Weyer; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
