Della M. Campbell, aged 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 23, 2024, after experiencing complications from multiple chronic medical conditions. Della was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Della was born to Lyle and Isabel Hurless on April 2, 1947, in McMinnville, Oregon. She was the youngest of four children: Dean, Don, Dot, and Della.
Della’s family moved to Lakeport, California, where she became friends with Jan Campbell during their Middle School years. Jan introduced Della to her brother Ken, who at first playfully teased Della until he realized he had feelings for her. In high school, Ken and Della became a couple, and on August 26, 1967, they were married. They remained sweethearts for 57 years.
As newlyweds, Ken joined the US Navy and was stationed on the USS Enterprise when their first child was born. Together, they had four children: Angela, Jennifer, Kevin, and Daniel. When Ken received orders for transfer to Whidbey Island in 1970, Della fell in love with the ocean, and they have made their home in Oak Harbor for 53 years.
Della loved her family, was strong in her faith, and believed that small acts of kindness and service made the most significant impacts in life.
Della is preceded in death by her parents, Lyle G. Hurless and Isabel C. Diedrich, and her brother, Laren Dean Hurless.
Della is survived by her husband, Kenneth Campbell; her siblings Dorothy (Bruce) Schmitz and Donald Hurless; her children Angela (Robert) Davis, Jennifer (Darby) Cook, Kevin (Janae) Campbell, and Daniel (Andrea) Campbell, and her grandchildren Anthony Rogers, Amanda Rogers, Emily Cook, Jaren Cook, and Edwin Cook.
