Dennis Patrick Ishler, born in 1960, died Nov. 5, 2011, in Hillsboro, Ore. He was a loving father, son, partner and friend. He will be missed by many. Dennis attended Oak Harbor High School and was active in the NJROTC. He enjoyed the discipline and camaraderie and was a member of their award winning rifle team. After graduation, he attended the Marion Military Institute in Alabama where he graduated with an associate degree. He attended Central Washington University until joining the United States Marine Corps and served honorably for eight years.
He then moved to Portland, Ore., to be closer to family. Dennis enjoyed hiking and exploring caves around Mount St. Helens. He was also the family genealogist.
Dennis is survived by his parents, Glenn and Bea Ishler (from Alabama) and Sandra and James Maloney (from Hawaii); partner, Ronald Yoder: siblings Thomas and LeAnne Ishler, Mary Beth and Mark Mohler, Jo Ann and Roger Duron, Michelle and Eric Kent and Jeff and Paul Bodin; his children, Megan and Shane Ishler; former wife, Angela Ishler; along with nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family. A remembrance social was held Nov. 12 in Hillsboro.
